Overheard conversation:
“That is just so St Kilda. Where else would you dind something like that in the street? I’m going to take a photo.”
“What do you want to do that for. It’s not a Christmas tree!”
The chair was last seen corner of Robe and Acland Street 2.30 pm, Saturday 4th February.

This chair has been relocated to Argyle street, St Kilda East and has been there since early Feb. Local eccentric Angelo goes out and sits in it daily (in his undies).
That’s alfresco St Kilda!
Confession time…
) We thought we would put the armchair under the photo which I bought.

My now exparter Mark and I stole the chair from corner Robe and Acland St. as we were walking down the street after the opening of the postcard show at Linden, I think it was beginning of January 07. Of course it was my idea as I love Julie’s work and even bought one photo of this stenciling series. Mark got excited too as he is a keen art collector… and this chair would have been the most unusual addition to his art collection
The next day we had a huge birthday party of mine. We lived in St Kilda, Farmer street. I have placed the armchair prominently at the entrance in the front yard. Most guests stared and wondered what it meant. Some sat in it during the party.
Very soon after the party Mark and I broke up. I moved out and Mark told me that he wants to get rid of the chair as it has a bad aura in the light of our brake-up…
He wanted to return the armchair to Robe street but ended up just putting it on Farmer Street. I have noticed that it stayed there for couple of month. The local eccentric’s name is actually George, not Angelo and he lives opposite Mark on Farmer Street. He has schizophrenia and his lovely, elderly greek sister and her husband look after him. George is often only in his underwear and likes to spend most of his time lying in the middle of the street smoking cigarettes and drinking coke. Then he throws empty coke cans over the neighbors’ fences. He looks a bit scary but is quiet and shy. I saw him sitting in the armchair on Farmer Street.
Later I saw that the armchair got relocated to Brighton Rd corner Farmer St. I guess people from the warehouse in Farmer st put it there as they would have been annoyed that this strange armchair was in front of their front yard.
It is interesting to hear that the armchair was recently seen in Argyle street which is a parallel street to Farmer street.. what a journey!
all is forgiven Nina. Citytraces loves to know that ‘the dicarded’ has an afterlife.
